Peter Worrell

Peter Worrell is a tough left winger that has created a name for himself dropping the gloves. He was born on August 18, 1977 in Pierrefonds, Quebec. Peter played his junior hockey with the Hull Olympiques of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) and averaged close of a point per game in his last two seasons. But Worrell's role on the Olympiques' squad was that of enforcer and he didn't disappoint, racking up a total of 1301 penalty minutes in his three years with the team. The Florida Panthers drafted him in the 7th round, 166th overall in the 1995 NHL entry draft.

After completing his junior career, Worrell moved on to the New Haven Beast of the American Hockey League (AHL). Peter continued to polish his trade of hockey enforcer, putting up 309 penalty minutes in 50 games. By 1997 the 6'6" left winger was playing in the NHL for the Panthers, making his debut against the New Jersey Devils. It took him until February of 1999 to scroe his first goal against the St. Louis Blues, but Worrell was quick off the mark in the penalty department.

He became a regular NHLer by 1999 and was one of the more feared hockey fighters. Peter Worrell spent six seasons with the Florida Panthers before being traded in July 2003 along with a second round pick in the 2004 draft to the Colorado Avalanche for Eric Messier and Vaclav Nedorost. He battled through some injuries in the 2003-04 season with Avs and only managed to play in 49 games. Peter started begin the 2005-06 season with the Charlotte Checkers of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) and has been itching to get back into the NHL.
