Torrie Robertson

Torrie Robertson was born on Aug 2 1961, in Victoria, British Columbia. He played his major-junior hockey with the hometown Victoria Cougars of the Western Hockey League, finishing his final season with 111 points and 274 penalty minutes. The Washington Capitals drafted the 5'11" left winger in the 3rd round, 55th overall in 1980 after acquiring the draft pick rights from the Toronto Maple Leafs. He got his first chance in the NHL during the 1980-81 season, playing in 3 games for the Capitals. The next couple of years were spent between Washington and their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Hershey Bears. On October 3 1983, Torrie was traded to the Hartford Whalers for Greg Adams. He would go on to become the Whalers enforcer for a good part of the 1980s, accumulating over 300 penalty twice in 1984-85 and 1985-86.

At the trading deadline in March 1989, Torrie Robertson was traded by the Whalers to the Detroit Red Wings for Jim Pavese. He spent a couple of years in the Red Wing organization playing both in Detroit and for their AHL affiliate in Adirondack. By 1990 he had left the Red Wings and played just two more pro-hockey games, one with the Albany Choppers of the International Hockey Leauge (IHL) and another with the Rochester Americans of the AHL.
