Mike Peluso
Mike Peluso was born on November 8, 1965 in Hibbing, Minnesota. He was drafted by the New Jersey Devils in the 10th round, 190th
overall of the 1984 NHL entry draft. He went on to play hockey with the University of Alaska-Anchorage of the National Collegiate
Athletic Association (NCAA). In 1989 Peluso signed with the Chicago Blackhawks as a free agent and began his pro-hockey career that same
year with the Indianapolis Ice of the International Hockey League (IHL). He played parts of three seasons with the Blackhawks before
being claimed in the 1992 expansion draft by the Ottawa Senators. He was effective as the Sens' enforcer for one season before being sent
to the New Jersey Devils to complete an earlier transaction.
Mike Peluso spent four seasons with the New Jersey Devils as their designated fighter/enforcer. In 1996 he was traded to the St.
Louis Blues along with Ricard Persson for Ken Sutton and a draft pick. He was then transferred to the New York Rangers as
compensation for the signing of Larry Pleau. In 1997-98, Peluso was getting close to the end of his hockey career when he was
picked up off waivers by the Calgary Flames. He managed to appear in 23 games getting no points, but racking up 113 penalty minutes.
This was Mike Peluso's final stop in his career as an enforcer in pro-hockey.
